MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital, created through a joint venture of HealthSouth and Shawnee Mission Medical Center, is a leader in rehabilitation care, education and community service.  MidAmerica is an 80-bed acute physical rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the treatment of patients who have experienced a disabling injury or illness. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy treatment and patient care according to hospital, state, professional and federal regulations and guidelines.  In addition, the position:
*       requires effective communication skills for working with patients, families, caregivers, and departmental and interdepartmental relationships. 
*       requires competency in occupational therapy evaluation, assessment, care planning and treatment.
*       requires task delegation and supervision of occupational therapist assistants and technicians.
*       maintains open and on-going communication with hospital departments to ensure patient, staff,
and hospital needs are met.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
License or Certification:
*      Must have current state license or certification; in states where licensing is not required, defer to state practice act. 
*       CPR certification preferred unless otherwise required by hospital policy.
Education, Training and Experience
*       Successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited therapy program
Machines, Equipment Used:
Physical Requirements:
*       Visual acuity and ability to communicate sufficiently to conduct safe patient care duties
*       Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds, which includes participating in patient mobility activities.
Skills and Abilities:
*       Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
*       Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
*       Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.
*       Ability to work independently without supervision.
*       May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
*       May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines. 
*       May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
*       Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster.
*       May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
*       Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Clinical Coordinator

Washburn University’s Allied Health Department invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track 9-month position beginning March 22, 2010 or as soon as possible pending funding approval. Faculty rank and salary dependent upon and commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

QualificationsRequired - Licensed Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant in Kansas (or eligible); Preferred - Currently licensed or credentialed Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant; Masters Degree with five years professional experience; experience working with Occupational Therapy Assistants; and fieldwork education.

Responsibilities:  Teach assigned courses, schedule classes, recruit and advise majors, ensure compliance with ACOTE accreditation requirements for fieldwork, supervise adjunct faculty, develop curriculum as required, assist with preparation of budget, assist with preparation of program review and evaluation and coordinate Fieldwork Consortium.  Reports to the Department Chair of Allied Health.
