Note from the Confernece Chairs:
Welcome to the Kansas Occupational Therapy Association’s Annual Conference! The theme this year is “The Yellow Brick Road” to the Occupational Therapy Centennial Vision. Our keynote speakers, workshops, seminars and vendors will all focus at looking at the state of occupational therapy and where we are heading.
In 2017, a few short years from now, both AOTA and the profession will turn 100. This is a time to celebrate where we have come from, and consider how to advance occupational therapy into the 21st century. The professional road map to advance the profession & move forward is called the Centennial Vision which states, "We envision that occupational therapy is a powerful, widely recognized, science-driven, and evidence-based profession with a globally connected and diverse workforce meeting society's occupational needs." We hope you are able to see some of the pathways OT practitioners are using to realize this professional vision by attending, learning, and actively participating in this year’s Conference.
For the third year now, our Conference will be GREEN! In our continuing effort to decrease the massive amount of paper we produce at every Conference you will be able to access all documents electronically. You can preview all Conference materials online, register and pay online, receive your Conference confirmation electronically, and even view all seminar and workshop handouts online. In lieu of KOTA printing hundreds of pages of handouts for each session, you will again be able to access Conference seminar materials yourself during Conference online! So make sure you bring your IPads, your IPhones, your Kindles, your Smartphone’s, and your laptops and you can view the materials online during sessions. But if you prefer, you will still be able to print out yourself whatever handouts that you would like, either prior to, or after Conference.
Again this year you will not need to register in advance for your sessions. You may choose whichever session you would like to attend while you are at Conference. But many sessions will fill up quickly, so please arrive at your session in plenty of time to get a seat before we close the doors! We will not be requiring you to sign in and out at each session, but will instead “stamp” you in and out once the doors are closed. You will need to make sure that you are “stamped” in and out with the proctors in each room on your CEU record sheet which is in the Conference materials packet that you received when you arrived at Conference. If while you are attending a session you decide to change to a different session, the proctor will stamp you out, and then you will have five minutes to be stamped in at your new session without losing any credit. Just make sure that you have been stamped in and out at both sessions. And at the end of Conference, or when you have attended your last session, please turn in your stamped CEU record sheet at the registration table. Your CEUs will be emailed to you after Conference.
The Conference Committee has worked very hard along with us to bring you the very best again this year! Please say a big thank you to, Theresa Chop (Speakers, Conference Co-Chair, Membership Officer), Ketti Coffelt (Pediatric Speakers ), Mary Gessler (Silent Auction, & Volunteer Coordination), Rhonda Hughes (Silent Auction & Volunteer Coordination), Diane Pickel (Vendors, Conference Co-Chair & KOTA Education Officer), Tiffany Kimbrough and Susan Benson (Volunteers).
Enjoy the Conference!!
